A PA’s View of Actors – Christopher Knight

Letting Go. Location: Post-Production Facility. Boy am I glad we’re back in this place. Dragon and Ted are too afraid of damaging the equipment to fight here. Plus, we’re working with Christopher Knight today. My first movie star. TV star. He was so professional. He came in, ran through the blocking, mumbling his lines to himself over and over again. And then looked up and said I’m ready. Bang. Got it in the first take! I’m in awe. I didn’t realize there was so much to acting.

Letting Go. Scene 17. Take 100. DP: David C. Smith. I was really excited to shoot this movie, especially after meeting Dragon and Ted. I have a number of animals myself, so I get where they’re coming from. I know most people would shy away from working with non-pro dogs, but I knew how to shoot around them to get the most natural performances. I brought in my own special rigging, and planned to use as much natural light as possible. Thank God because today, Dragon and Ted got to playing, and, well, things broke. Had I had a bunch of lights on the set, something would have caught fire. I did have to have a talk with them aboutsafety issues on set.

More on Location Shoots for Letting Go

Letting Go. Location: Jake’s house. I know I have never been on a set before, but I think it’s not supposed to go like this. Dragon and the producer, Ted, got into a huge screaming match today and I mean these are big dogs, in a small space. It was not pretty. Lights, props, set design, flying in every direction. They totally ruined the set. Jake had to put each of them in a time out in separate rooms while we put the set back together. I guess this is the tempermental part of directors.

On-Set and Off-Set Relationships

Letting Go. Location: Jake’s house. Okay, this is a little weird. We’re shooting a movie about a guy, played by the guy, in the guy’s house, with another woman playing his girlfriend, while his real girlfriend looks on. I don’t want to say it was uncomfortable, but I was sure glad I had my towels.
